Duties and
Responsibilities: Dance/
movement therapist focus on helping their clients improve self-esteem and body
image, develop effective communication skills and relationships, expand their
movement vocabulary, gain insight into patterns of behavior, as well as create
new options for coping with problems. It’s also a movement to promote
emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of the individual.
Salary:
$60,000 - $80,000 a year or more
Education: You need a strong dance background in
addition a liberal degree. After a bachelor’s degree, students can enroll to
the ADTA- approved master’s degree program in dance therapy. These courses will
involve counseling, body movement assessment, and psychotherapy, also movement therapy.
