Dance/ Movement Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities: Dance/ movement therapist focus on helping their clients improve self-esteem and body image, develop effective communication skills and relationships, expand their movement vocabulary, gain insight into patterns of behavior, as well as create new options for coping with problems. It’s also a movement to promote emotional, social, cognitive and physical integration of the individual.

Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 a year or more

Education: You need a strong dance background in addition a liberal degree. After a bachelor’s degree, students can enroll to the ADTA- approved master’s degree program in dance therapy. These courses will involve counseling, body movement assessment, and psychotherapy, also movement therapy.

Reflection: I would be a dance therapist because you get to move around and help people’s relationship to make it better and it would be fun being in that career.
