“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder”

Thomas Carlyle

Reflection: A person that has goals can see him or her in a good position where he or she is heading for life like a boat with the rudder it can steer to any direction the person has to go. Without your goals you’ll be lost and won’t know how to move from where you’re at.

Reflection 2: There are 3 people that have had achieved their goal by setting their minds to it since they were little. 1. A guy who can do tricks with fire and balance it very well. 2. A bean shooter he shoots rocks at things with a sling shot since he was 10 because they wouldn’t let him use a gun to hint for their food. 3. There are girls who can walk on top of an airplane they had set that goal when they first saw it on TV back in England. By seeing yourself accomplish that goal in the future can inspire you to keep on trying.

Character counts

The six pillars of character
  •  Trustworthiness
  •  Respect
  • Responsibility
  •  Fairness
  •  Caring
  •  Citizenship

Describe each pillar
  •  Trustworthiness: Be honest; be honest to someone don't lie to them or else the problem will get bigger.
  •  Respect: Treat others with respect; be generous to everyone in general.
  • Responsibility: Do what you’re supposed to do, don’t slack or get distracted on other things and do the stuff that people ask you to do.
  •  Fairness:  Play by the rules, don’t cheat because it’s not fair to others who have done so much work to win.
  • Caring: Be kind; don’t be mean to anyone who has done nothing to you.
  • Citizenship: Do your share to make your school and community better, if you see any trash pick it up and don’t make the place dirty try to clean.

Reflection: I would follow these 6 pillars because I believe it can change bad person’s habits into good habits. It also seems fair to anyone if your follow them because it will make you a ctr person. These 6 pillars is a good way for a person to change society and their life.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.”

Sophocles

Reflection: this quote means that it’s better to play a clean game and loose rather than play dirty and win because after all you didn’t actually win or tried your best to win. It’s better to try something and be proud and have pride on what you did than to cheat.

“Nicest man in the world”

Patrick Morgan

Florida

This guy names Patrick works at an airport and he was doing his usually routine as a custodian until he passed by a shack and found an iPad. He was in shock when he looked in the case because there it was 2 thousand dollars. Patrick was so nice enough to go report it so the owner can come back for what she/ he had lost. The owner was thankful and gave him a $60 reward. I felt so happy and joyful because some people would’ve kept the money and the iPad. Later on the reports were interviewing him and he said that he spent the $60 on a poor women and the other half to a co-worker that needed it. It was a heartwarming moment. His boss had noticed what he did so rewarded him $625 for himself.

Stand alone

“Dare to stand alone.”

Thomas S. Monson

Reflection: If your friends are doing something wrong and ask you to be involved don’t do it because you’re not going to risk yourself just be with them or fit in. If you choose the wrong with them they’ll be in trouble and you too since you had decided to join what they were doing. It’s better to be alone and choose the right other than be with a bad group and get in trouble for something not worth it.

3 cancer causing foods

1. Microwaved popcorn the bag itself is lined with a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) it’s linked to infertility in women. Numerous studies in lab animals and humans show that exposure to PFOA significantly increases the risk of kidney, bladder, liver pancreas and testicular cancers. The content also carried Soybean oil a GMO product that preservatives such as propyl gallate a chemical that causes stomach problems and skin rashes. Popcorn its self is a chemical called dactyl. Use of these chemical caused Conagra foods removed from the brand of popcorn because it was causing lung disease in the workers at the factory.

2. Soda Pops are consumed per day and it’s a high risk to get a stroke. It’s loaded with sugar, sodas are an empty source of calories that cause weight gain and contribute to the nationwide epidemic of obesity. Drinking large amounts of this rapidly digested sugar causes your blood sugar to spike which can lead to both inflammation and insulin resistance. It also is the root causing of gastro-esophageal reflux disease, which is when the contents of the stomach leak into the esophagus causing only pain and burning of the esophagus from stomach acid. Soda also contains artificial colorings and food chemicals like derivate 4-methylimidazeole. That’s why soda pop has been shown to cause cancer.

Chemicals and preservatives, including sodium nitrates makes them look appealing and fresh but are known as carcinogens. Smoking meats seem to be particularly bad meat picks up tar from the smoking process.
